Review (by Malcolm Storey) | Collins was the foremost British publisher of field-guides in the second half of the Twentieth Century, as Warne was in the first half. The eponymous Collins Field Guides covered most of the more popular groups, although tended to eschew the more specialised groups of organisms where Warne’s "Wayside & Woodland" guides were so ground-breaking. Collins also published the excellent New Naturalist series which continues to this day under HarperCollins. |
