Specimen PreparationColours in the key refer to living or freshly killed specimens. Preserve dry or in 70% alcohol. For examination permanent microscope slide preps are recommended: mount in Euparal or Canada Balsam. Dissection of mouthparts (often) and genitalia (usually) may be necessary.
