Review (by Malcolm Storey)

Pseudobaeospora calcarea is a whitish, acrid tasting bryicolous agaric from dry Pinus sylvestris forest in the Rhone valley, Switzerland.

It was associated with pleurocarpous mosses, especially Pleurozium schreberi, and, as this would suggest, the soil was a slightly acid. ("Calcarea" refers to the chalky appearance of the cap, rather than the habitat.)

It has dextrinoid spores.
