Review (by Malcolm Storey)

Ophiostoma canum and Ceratocystis pluriannulata (=O. pluriannulatum), and the yeast Debaryomyces hansenii grow on the frass used by the weevils to cover their eggs. D. hansenii produced methyl salicylate which strongly reduced the weevil’s attraction to the Pinus sylvestris volatiles.

The Ceratocystis/Ophiostoma spp. produced 6-protoilludene.
