Review (by Malcolm Storey)

Conopids are probably the most striking flies in the British fauna. This small booklet gives a dichotomous key to adults, with hosts, distribution and flight periods.

Should no longer be used for Myopa, Sicus or Thecophora, otherwise still useful.

Can be downloaded from the Royal Entomological Society website.

Errata, Corrigenda & CommentsPage 10, fig 22: unstippled area at base of 2nd segment should be drawn black.

Specimen PreparationPinned and set specimens
Identification difficultyStraightforward, although the separation of Sicus (Myopinae couplet 2) requires careful orientation of the wing.
