Review (by Malcolm Storey) | Nicely produced book covering the Shieldbugs and allies of Britain, although with special emphasis on Surrey. The key to Shieldbugs is followed by a separate key to Shieldbug Allies. Detailed and readable species accounts with phenology histograms for many species and dot maps of distribution in Surrey. The colour photographs of adults and immature stages are a feature of this book. |
Examine | in the Hand ( Stereo Microscope is also useful) |
Specimen Preparation | Live insects kept cool so they keep still. Eurygaster needs dissection of the male genitalia (p48). |
Identification difficulty | Straightforward. |
