Review (by Malcolm Storey) | The Synopsis is mainly concerned with free-living species, although the parasitic members of suborder Thoracica are covered. The single parasitic species in suborder Acrothoracica is described (it lives inside the wall of Whelk shells inhabited by Hermit Crabs) but not keyed out. Suborder Rhizocephala consists of parasitic species, (eg Sacculina carcini) and is only briefly mentioned. A (polychotomous) key to species on p26, followed by notes on each species. A shorter key to intertidal species is given on p46. |
Errata, Corrigenda & Comments | Omits *Chthamalus montagui*, a common species, which wasn’t distinguished unitl 1976. |
