Review (by Malcolm Storey)

The main text consists of pages of text describing one or two species facing colour photographs. The book covers only 10% of the European fauna, and many (most?) of the selected species are non-British.

The UK species are given some attention towards the end: a short section "Additional Species living in the British Isles" describes some more of our species, albeit with only line drawings by way of illustration, so that, in total, about 50% of the UK species are covered. There is a key to European mollusc families (using living animals) and a second key to British land snails.

Examine with x8 or x10 hand lens ( Stereo Microscope is also useful)
Specimen PreparationDissection required in some cases
