Review (by Malcolm Storey) | A nice little handbook. The key (page 24) is well illustrated, usually with only one or two couplets per page, followed by the distinguishing features of three very rare species. Stipple drawings of the adults of one species from each of the 8 genera follow. These are followed by the species accounts which comprise nesting requirements, food plants, monthly flight period histogram for each sex, overseas distribution, British and Irish distribution with 10Km dot map. The key can be downloaded from the BWARS website. |
Examine | Stereo Microscope |
Specimen Preparation | Pinned specimens, set to display propodeum and 2nd ventral sternum, with mandibles pulled open, legs hanging down, etc. |
