Review (by Malcolm Storey)

Introduces the segregates of Epichloë typhina which has recently been split into seven species differing in host specificity and spore details. Neotyphodium states with no known teleomorph are mentioned.

Seven species are covered of which E. elymi is not yet confirmed for Britain.

There is a tabulation of hosts from British records and a key to species.

It appears we must now record imperfect (white) Chokes as "Neotyphodium" while the perfect (orange) states require microscopic examination.
