Errata, Corrigenda & Comments | P. 96: States that different-looking lichens formed from the same fungus and different algae were "mistakenly" described as separate lichen genera. However, under the nomenclatorial rules of the time, lichen names applied to the lichen association not to the fungal component, so this was quite correct. There were even cases where different parts of the same lichen, eg species with special growths utilising a cyanobacterium, had two names. |
