Review (by Malcolm Storey)Discusses the causes of Oak Die-back events during the last three-quarter century. Early symptoms were caused Erysiphe alphitoides (1920’s) or Collybia fusipes (France, 1970’s) but more recent cases seem to be related to infections spread by the increasingly frequent Oak Jewel Beetle, Agrilus biguttatus. Early infections produce tarry spots on the trunk.
