Review (by Malcolm Storey) | Dragonfly colour vision apparently recognises c. 20 colours compared to the meagre three or four found in mammals (including our own three), birds and other insects. The dragonflies investigated had genes for 15-33 opsin pigments which are differentially expressed between larval eyes, and the ventral and dorsal facets of adult eyes. |
