VU/D2

A very rare black stromatic pyrenomycete that grows on dead, still-attached Birch (Betula) twigs. The surface of the stroma is liberally covered with sterile pimples that force back the paper-like bark as they grow. The perithecia are embedded in the stroma, not the pimples.
