Rare
DD
A rare brown toadstool with the characteristic domed cap and strongly decurrent gills of a Camarophyllopsis when young. As it matures it opens out and becomes more like a Hygrocybe, in which genus it is often first sought. In case of doubt, the small round spores are almost unique to this toadstool. It is found in small groups in unimproved grassland, on dry basic soils.
