Literature listed under the following higher taxa may be relevant to Hygrocybe insipida (Spangle Waxcap):

A small yellow or orange waxcap with a greasy cap, +/- decurrent gills and a moist stem when fresh. The stem apex or the entire stem is often reddish and contrasts with the yellow or orange cap. The toadstool is uncommon but widespread occurring in troops, in grassland, unfertilised lawns, fixed dunes and on rich soil in deciduous woodland or scrub. These yellow/orange waxcaps have been much confused in the past and old records should be treated with caution.
