A small reddish or orange ’waxcap’ with a dry squamulose or tomentose cap and pale decurrent gills. The toadstool is common and widespread occurring in troops in grassland and also on fixed dunes, in woods, in Alder (Alnus) carr and occasionally in Sphagnum bogs.
